You want to give your child the best so that they can give their best. School and learning is no exception. You might even be surprised how easy it can be to make lifestyle changes that drastically improve their focus and school performance. In today’s post, we’re going over exactly that — sans medication.
Discover healthy and natural ways to help boost your child’s energy, enthusiasm, and focus in the classroom. Infinite Wellness in Warrington is here to help. Schedule a “Well Child” back-to-school visit for your child at our wellness center for a general checkup, to learn about any nutrition deficiencies they have, and how you can add more nutrition to their meals.
Serve More Fruits & Veggies
Fruits and vegetables contain a variety of vitamins and minerals that keep your child feeling healthy and focused. The more colorful their plate is with different fruits and veggies, the better. A serving of fruit or vegetables for a child is about one cup, and they generally need about five servings total every day. You can talk with a physician at our wellness center to learn more about what fruits and veggies will help your child the most.
Stick To A Sleep Schedule
Make sure your child is going to bed early enough to get the shut-eye they need to feel alert and focused the next day. Sleep is also the time when their brain relaxes and absorbs the knowledge from the day, helping them retain what they’ve learned.
It’s important to stick to a sleep schedule to help keep their performance consistent. It may be easy to bend this rule on the weekends for late-night movies or games, but do your best to send them to bed at the same time every night as it will keep their energy levels better regulated.
Your child looks up to you, so doing activities with them can help reinforce the importance and joy of those activities. Exercise is no exception. When you shoot hoops together, kick the soccer ball around, and even do workouts like yoga or dance together, you’re teaching them healthy life habits that give them the energy and drive they need to succeed in school.
Get Some Sunshine
There’s no better way for your child to receive the vitamin D they need than to spend some time in the sunshine. Luckily, all they need is just 10 to 15 minutes of direct sunlight a day to get their recommended dose.
Vitamin D will help with your child’s bone development and support their immune system, which means more time learning and having fun with friends, and less time staying home sick.
